The Postal Service

Last weekend Aaron and I went out to Las Vegas to see the Postal Service.  It was a quick trip, but I had such a great time!  The show was on Friday night so we had Thursday night and Friday to have some fun.  And when I say fun, I mean get fat!

We had dinner at The Buffet in the Aria where I had THE BEST mac-n-cheese of my life!  I ate until I was sick, and all I wanted to do was eat more. We also spent a lot of time just walking up and down The Strip,  hopefully burning off some of what we ate!

The show lived up to my expectations 100%!  I have loved this band since high school, but they never toured (that I know of), so I was so excited when we bought our tickets.  They played every song from their album and some new songs which were good.  I danced and sang and loved every second of it!   I hope this means they will be touring more and putting out a new album soon.

Thank you Postal Service for coming back to life and for being amazing!

This is What I Do...

It’s 4:30!  That means I can officially start my weekend.

Being a teacher for an Online Charter School/Home School is pretty awesome.  I have been asked by many what a typical day is like working from home.  Here is my TO DO list from today

  • Check attendance and progress for the week
  • Email families who need to update progress and attendance
  • Coordinate PFT with Janean
  • Change CST for M. from week 1 to week
  • Email HS registration info to 8th grade families
  • Kmail students with missing composition assignments
  • Scan and email timesheet
  • Print April Calendar
  • Check ISMA’s
  • Submit signed ISMAs for approval
  • Check Back To School Packets
  • Respond to emails as they come
  • Organize emails
  • Prepare for In Person CST training on Monday

Today was pretty busy for a Friday, but it is the last school day of the month, and the last day of quarter 3 so I was expecting to be busy. I love working from and I love my home office too! Isn't it cozy?

Enjoy your weekend!

Florence

Ever since taking Renaissance and Reformation at BYU-Idaho, I have wanted to go to Florence.  I love everything to do with the Renaissance, and I could not wait to visit its birth place. I was excited to see things like...

Brunelleschi's Dome

And the dome inside the dome

Michelangelo's David

The Baptistery Doors

Cellini's Perseus

The Fountain of Neptune

Michelangelo's Pieta

Not to mention all the artwork and architecture.  I cold definitely spend a lot more time in this city.

And lets be honest, Aaron and I were both very excited to have Pizza where the cast of Jersey Shore worked.  The Pizza was actually really good!

Florence was amazing!   And you don't have to be a history nerd like me to enjoy it, Aaron thought it was pretty rad too.

Venezia

We were only in Venice for 1 full day (and 2 half days), but I fell in love with this city!  I loved everything about it, even how easy it was to get lost.  I felt like I was staying in Disneyland (complete with all the tourist and long lines). All that was missing was the music playing out of the rocks and light poles.  It was perfect, exactly how I imagined it to be.  I can't wait to go back to spend a lot more time exploring the the city!

We probably took close to a thousand picture here, these are just a few of my favorites...

The Grand Canal

A line of gondolas

The Rialto Bridge

The Doge's Palace

Basiluca S. Maria Gloriosa Dei Frari

Scuola San Rocco
St. Mark's Basilica

London

The first stop on our vacation this year was in London.  Aaron really wanted to see a Chelsea match, and I wasn't about to say no to seeing this city again.

After waiting almost 3 hours to get through customs and into the city we were exhausted, but we wanted to make the most of our time.  After we got settled into our apartment we ventured off to explore.
Found at a Park in Chelsea
We stayed in the building on the left

The next morning we were up bright and early and decided to go to the Portobello market before heading off to the game.

The people here LOVE their soccer, and they LOVE to sing about their teams.

Getting ready for a corner kick

After the game, people cleared out so fast!

The game was a lot of fun.  But it blows my mind that the final score was 0-0. I can't figure out how everyone is okay with just ending a game without any score.  LAME.

We spent the rest of the day wondering around the city.

Olympic countdown in Trafalgar Square

Can you see Big Ben behind us?

The prettiest court house I've ever seen

The next day we were up early and off to Venice, but that is for my next post.

We did not spend nearly enough time in London.  I am already planning our return trip (in my dreams we are going for Aaron's 30th birthday)  I really do love that city!

Project 52 Update

Moving, traveling, and working have taken up most of my time the past few months. Blogging just felt like an unnecessary chore, so I took a little break.  Things are finally settling down and I’m committing myself to blogging more often. (at least for as long as I stay motivated to do so)
Despite the craziness of my life I have been able to complete a few goals!  I will most likely dedicate an entire post to a few of these goals, and I’ll be sure to included a lot of pictures, but for nowhere is what I’ve accomplished.

#3: Buy and hang a new magnet board—The one we bought from Ikea 3 years a go has been discontinued so our new one is a little different, but it actually fits perfectly.  I look forward to filling it up.

(We like to collect magnets for places we visit, but we don't like to put them on the fridge)

#6: Clean out closet and donate old clothes—Moving motivated me to purge!

#19: Go on a bike ride with Aaron—We went on 2 actually, once in Florence and once in Rome.

(Getting ready for our bike tour around Rome)

#20: Go to 2 pro sports games—We went to a Lakers game and to a Chelsea match while in London

(Chelsea vs Tottenham)

#33: Move closer to Aaron’s work—We finally moved into our new place 3 weeks ago.  I absolutely love where I live.  The only things that I miss about Orange County are my friends, so you should all move out here!  (NOT UTAH!!!) Trust me, you will love it!

#34: Organize and clean out garage storage & #36: Organize under both beds—Moving gave me no choice on these, it had to be done.

#49: Take Social Science CSET—I took it, and I’ll be taking it again….

#51: Visit 3 new places with Aaron—Venice, Florence, and Rome

I have been re-motivated to complete my goals for the year!  Don't forget about yours.

I will blog about our trip eventually, please be patient with me!
